ROCKS AND WATER
SIERRA WATER
Commissioned for a new Ritz Carlton hotel near Lake Tahoe, this collage captures the majestic trees and rocks of the local environs, reflected in the gorgeous Sierra waters.
RUSHING PAST CALM
For this private commission the clients suggested
I propose some subjects. My inspiration here was the Yuba river. I was
smitten by the lush green tones of the water-covered rocks.
RIVER
This is a piece created for a national juried
show, "12 Voices". The show opened in Traverse City, Michigan
in September of 2008.
STANISLAUS RIVER
This collage was commissioned by Kaiser for a
new healthcare facility in Modesto, California. After seeing my other
river images Kaiser requested a view of either the Stanislaus or Merced
Rivers, both of which are located in the Modesto area. In addition to
“Stanislaus River”, Kaiser purchased several large prints
of my other river collages. An entire corridor will use rocks and water
as its theme.
MARIN HEADLANDS
This is part of a three-piece series commissioned
by the San Francisco Arts Commission. For more information about the series,
see Gallery 5, Bay Area Landscapes.
COAST
This is a piece created for a national juried
show, "12 Voices". The show opened in Traverse City, Michigan
in September of 2008.
HAVASU CREEK
My favorite part of this composition is the way your
eye is pulled to the back of the canyon.
SONORA STONE I & II
I was mesmerized by the light and the way it was
captured by the underside of these rocks.
SIERRA STREAM 1-3
This is a three piece series commissioned by a
developer for a transit-oriented development in the San Francisco Bay
Area. The developer requested something calming and soothing.
What could be more calming than to look at the soothing waters of the
Sierras? These three pieces are prominently installed in the entry lobby. Click

TUOLUMNE RIVER
This was a privately commissioned piece. When
completed it was installed in the clients main conference room.
YUBA RIVER
This is one of my personal favorites. I love the
simplicity of dark and light, solid and liquid, rough and smooth. And
the whole thing is divided along the diagonal, my favorite axis.
YUBA RIVER 2
This piece was an experiment; could I get the
detail and depth I strive for in my work and stay within a small format?
To that end, I chose a limited view - just part of one rock and its reflection.
This collage is only 14"x18", much smaller than the majority
of my work. I confess - I'm very pleased with the result.
