ARTIST AND TECHNIQUE
I have been working with fabric since 1991. My current technique, fabric collage, is one I developed myself. It takes something traditionally relegated to craft status – fabric – and transforms it into a serious art form. For the last seven years I have been working exclusively with collage. I have had numerous shows and exhibitions as well as fellowships, grants and both public and private art commissions. For a more detailed list please refer to the attached resume.

ARTIST AND COMMUNITY
I have an Open Studio policy. In addition to hosting an Open Studio on the Second Saturday of every month, I do all of my fabrication in my R Street studio, and the door is always open. Visitors come by every day to watch me work on my current project. School groups come at least once a month. I always try to take time to explain the fabric collage process, how I started working with fabric, how my giclée prints are made, or any other subject of interest. This demystifies the art process and brings the artist closer to the community.

ARTIST AND ARCHITECT
As an artist and an architect, I bring a rather unique mix of talents and experiences to any project team. Prior to moving to Sacramento, California in 1991, I was a Vice President and Senior Project Manager at the San Francisco architectural firm of Backen, Arrigoni and Ross (BAR). As a licensed architect I had the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including mixed-use, retail, entertainment facilities, housing and offices. I have been responsible for all phases of a project, from schematic design through construction administration. It’s very nice to feel comfortable working with other architects, interior designers, art consultants and contractors. I think it’s a definite advantage to have an “insider’s” understanding of their priorities, schedules, budgets, etc., especially when working on a large-scale installation.
